As an acclaimed double bass soloist and chamber musician, Christine Hoock inspires audiences around the world with her concert performances and masterclasses. The fascinating possibilities of making music with the double bass, also as a soloist, are carried into concert halls by this native of Mainz with her typical ease and virtuosity.

The international prize-winner has performed at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, Aurora Chamber Music Festival, Festival Musicale di Portogruaro, Musiktriennale Köln, Lucerne- and San Sebastian Festival, and at the Berlin and Salzburg Festivals, among others.

Her artistic partners include Alessandro Taverna, Glen Moore, Benjamin Schmid, Enrico Bronzi, Winfried Rademacher, John Goldsby, Ib Hausmann and DJ Umberto Echo.

Christine Hoock completed her studies in Frankfurt and Geneva, with Günter Klaus and Franco Petracchi respectively, with distinction. While still studying she founded the famous all-female Frankfurt Double Bass Quartet.

A versatile virtuoso, Christine Hoock can also be heard in a wide variety of innovative constellations of jazz, electronic and world music. This is also reflected in her varied discography and radio recordings.

In 2021, Christine was honoured with a Special Recognition Award for Solo Performance by the International Society of Bassists.

During her engagements as CoPrincipal and Principal with the WDR Symphony Orchestra Cologne and other top German orchestras, the artist has performed with conductors such as Semyon BychkovAndré Previn, Peter Eötvös, Neeme and Paavo Järvi, Gary Bertini, Pinchas Zukerman, Sir Neville Marriner, and Rudolf Barschai. Besides her orchestra engagement she was teaching at Robert-Schuman-Hochschule Düsseldorf and Folkwang Universität der Künste.

Christine Hoock holds a professorship for double bass at the renowned Mozarteum University in Salzburg. In 2014 she received a guest professorship at China Conservatory Beijing.

In addition to concert tours, masterclasses and jury work, Christine Hoock is active as a mentor in the international music scene. She is founder and artistic director of the International Rhodius Academy for Double Bass at Burg Namedy Castle and led the Intonation J.M. Sperger Competition from 2016-2023 as president of the Sperger society and artistic director.

Christine inspires many composers around the globe, who dedicate pieces to her. For example, she has composed solo works and concertos by Rabbih Abou-Khalil, Ralph Towner, Paul Chihara, Toshio Hosokawa and Arni Egilsson. She regularly also arranges pieces for double bass ensemble herself, for example by Philip Glass, Georg Philipp Telemann, Johannes Sperger and Michel Corrette.

Christine Hoock begeistert als gefeierte Kontrabass Solistin und Kammermusikerin weltweit bei Konzertauftritten und Masterclasses. Die faszinierenden Möglichkeiten, mit dem Kontrabass auch solistisch zu musizieren, trägt die gebürtige Mainzerin in einer für sie typischen Leichtigkeit und Virtuosität in die Konzertsäle.

Die internationale Preisträgerin konzertiert u.a. beim Schleswig-Holstein Musikfestival, Festival Musicale di Portogruaro, Aurora Chamber Music Festival, Luzern- und San Sebastian Festival und bei den Berliner und Salzburger Festspielen.
Zu ihren künstlerischen Partnern gehören Alessandro Taverna, John Goldsby, Benjamin Schmid, Enrico Bronzi, Winfried Rademacher, Glen Moore, Ib Hausmann und DJ Umberto Echo.

Ihre Studien absolvierte Christine Hoock in Frankfurt und Genf bei Günter Klaus und Franco Petracchi mit Auszeichnung. Noch während ihrer Studien gründete die kreative Künstlerin das Frankfurter Kontrabass Quartett, das weltweit Erfolge feierte.

Als vielseitige Virtuosin ist Christine Hoock bei klassischen Auftritten wie auch in Genre übergreifenden und innovativen Konstellationen von World, Jazz und elektronischer Musik zu hören. Dies spiegelt sich in ihrer abwechslungsreichen Discographie und Rundfunkaufnahmen wieder.
2021 wurde Christine mit dem „Solo Performance“ Award der International Society of Bassists ausgezeichnet.

Während Ihrer Engagements als stv. Solo- und Solokontrabassistin im WDR Sinfonieorchester Köln und anderen deutschen Spitzenorchestern konzertierte die Künstlerin mit Dirigenten wie Semyon Bychkov , Neeme and Paavo Järvi, Peter Eötvös, André Previn, Gary Bertini, Pinchas Zukerman, Sir Neville Marriner,  und Rudolf Barschai. Parallel unterrichtete sie an der Robert-Schuman Hochschule für Musik Düsseldorf und der Folkwang Universität der Künste.

Christine Hoock unterrichtet als Universität Professorin für Kontrabass an der renommierten Universität Mozarteum Salzburg. Am China Conservatory Beijing wurde ihr 2014 eine Gastprofessur verliehen.
Neben ihrer regen internationalen Konzerttätigkeit ist Christine Hoock als Jurorin bei internationalen Wettbewerben und Mentorin in der Musikszene aktiv. Sie ist Gründerin und künstlerische Leiterin der International Rhodius Academy for Double Bass auf Schloss Burg Namedy und leitete 2016-2023 den Internationalen J.M. Sperger Wettbewerb für Kontrabass als Präsidentin der Sperger Gesellschaft und künstlerische Leiterin.

Christine inspiriert weltweit Komponisten, die ihr Stücke widmen. So entstanden z.B. Solowerke und Konzerte von Rabbih Abou-Khalil, Ralph Towner, Paul Chihara, Toshio Hosokawa und Arni Egilsson.
Regelmäßig bearbeitet sie selbst Stücke für Kontrabass-Ensemble, etwa von Philip Glass, Georg Philipp Telemann, Johannes Sperger oder Michel Corrette.

Christine spielt ein englisches Instrument von William Tarr aus dem Jahr 1848.
