“SPACE:BASS” is the genre-spanning duo of Christine Hoock, a Classical double bass soloist, and producer and sound artist Umberto Echo, supported by the pianist Barbara Nussbaum.

The double bass, played in the Classical manner or otherwise “processed“ live, moves within the surprising soundscape of electronics.

Their concepts incorporate elements of Classical, contemporary and popular music styles like Dub and ambient and combine them to create a sense of suspension.

Resistance or support? Sound fullness or distortion? Discords or the common ride to the sun? Free improvisations, contemporary commissioned and original compositions as well as different arrangements are part of their unconventional repertoire.
